Ikea Play Kitchen Hack

I have been dying to do a hack on the IKEA child’s kitchen. Finally after all the other projects I have taken on I had the time to do this. I will say that this DIY is pretty time consuming, but if done right the results are amazing! After searching Pinterest I gathered a few ideas and knew how I wanted to customize this kitchen. Gold has been a reoccurring theme in many of the projects that I have done for my daughter so there was no way I wouldn’t add a little gold to this project.

Additional items I bought:

  • Gold Spray paint
  • Poster board
  • Faux hexagon tiles
  • Wooden sign
  • Chalkboard
  • Decorative hook
  • Marble contact paper

By far my best finds were the hexagon stick on tiles from Amazon and the heavy duty marble contact paper. Another thing that made a huge difference was the gold spray paint that I purchased at Target. It was a little pricey at close to $8 a bottle. But the shine is fantastic and it sticks really well to the plastic.

Walmart had a great little chalkboard sign that I came across and it fit perfectly to the side of the kitchen!

TIP: secure decor to the wood by using hot glue. I glued the glass jar and succulent so baby would be safe.
After adding some more decor, this hack was ready for baby to play with, and she is obsessed!
